Correction of ear deformities
Was your child born with an ear deformity?
Scientific studies of more than 800 children have shown that ear deformity leads to more bullying and social problems.
Approximately 10-30% of babies are born with a degree of abnormal ear shape. This can be due to the effects on the fetus during pregnancy or inherited genetic defects, often there is no explanation for the cause, only a desire to treat the condition.
Pricked ears are the most common “deformity”, but there are other unnamed conditions that are already visible from birth, both in the form of smaller cartilage tags and deviated, compressed ear shape.
Ear malformations the clinic can remedy:
For several conditions such as ‘eartags’ and constricted ear
it is beneficial to treat the child at a very young age.
- Cryptonia
- Constricted ear
- Steel’s ear
- Hermangioma
- Ear tags
- Cauliflower Ear (Cauliflower Ear).
Eartags/ Skintags
Skintags/ Ear tags can be removed with a very simple surgery that can be performed without general anesthesia with local anesthetic cream and local anesthesia.
This is an advantage the younger the child is, i.e. from a very young age.
Correction of constricted ear and cataract ear – Children (Earwell® system)
Young children with ear compression can be treated with a new atraumatic, non-surgical method that involves applying a frame that straightens the ear over time. This is the Earwell® system.

Inanna Weiss is trained to apply EarWell to infants and she can safely help you and your child. EarWell is designed to be applied quickly and easily to the child’s ear and is suitable for many types of ear deformities. Treatment takes place over 4 to 6 weeks, after which the ear will typically have straightened to a more normal looking ear.
This is done without surgery and could eliminate the risk of the child being exposed to teasing later in life and eventually needing surgery.
Prominent ears – Strange ears in adults & adolescents
Prick ears, also known as prominent ears, can have various causes and it is important to understand these factors when considering surgical correction. It can be due to insufficient development of the ‘outer’ cartilage fold (antihelix) that is too large or has a deep cartilage cup, as well as a combination of several causes. It is important to recognize the correct cause in order to adapt the surgical technique.
Surgery with Otoplasty
When it comes to surgical techniques, we offer a customized solution based on each patient’s needs. There are several different techniques for Otoplasty, where the surgeon reshapes or reduces the cartilage to adapt the shape of the ear. This can involve removing excess cartilage, adjusting the ear contour and creating a more natural fold in the ear.
Another method is the use of sutures to help stabilize the position of the ear and achieve the desired shape. Dr. Inanna Weiss masters the innovative biomechanical technique developed by Dr. Raunig, which leaves no permanent sutures and gives a very natural look.
The surgery is individually customized to ensure the result meets the patient’s expectations and fits their facial structure.
Dr. Weiss will carefully evaluate your ears, discuss the causes of your pricked ears and present the most appropriate surgical techniques for your individual needs. The goal is to deliver a safe and effective procedure that can restore balance and confidence.
Other Corrections:
Surgical reduction of the ear (ear reduction) and earlobe reduction, and reduction of excessive ear holes are also performed.
