Gentle and effective treatment of
Skin cancer and other skin tumors

We specialize in skin cancer treatment with Mohs surgery

  • The treatment is performed under mild local anesthesia
  • The entire skin cancer is removed, sparing as much healthy tissue as possible
  • Immediate pathology analysis ensures all skin cancer is removed at the end of surgery
  • Refined plastic surgery technique ensures the most natural, invisible scar

In this procedure, which is performed under local anesthesia, the excision is made after inspection with magnification to visualize the clinically free margin. The specimen is then sent to the Pathology Laboratory where it is immediately prepared and the entire perimeter/edge is inspected by a pathology specialist to ensure complete removal of the skin cancer. If residual cancer is found in the specimen, the exact location is annotated so that exactly that area can be excised. The process is repeated until no more cancer cells are seen in the preparation and it is known that all cancer has been removed. The defect is then reconstructed using plastic surgery techniques, individually customized for each patient with the goal of creating the most natural, invisible scar.

The stitches are removed after approximately 7 days and the patient is seen for clinical control 3, 6 and 12 months after surgery.

Skin cancer

Why is Mohs surgery / Margin Controlled surgery better than conventional treatment:

  • Tissue sparing: you do not remove the traditional 3-5 mm ‘safety margin’ but only the skin cancer with a clinically free margin
  • Immediate pathology analysis to ensure all skin cancer is removed at the end of surgery instead of waiting 2 weeks for answers and risking re-operation
  • Peace of mind knowing you are cured because you have received pathology results and undergone the reconstruction in one session
  • Smaller scars as only the skin area with skin cancer is removed and – because the pathology is clarified immediately – optimal reconstruction can be performed

Dr. Weiss has performed more than 5,000 procedures of this kind with high patient satisfaction and a recurrence rate of >1%.

Do you have a skin condition that worries you?

Get a quick appointment for a consultation here at the clinic in our premises in Copenhagen. A conversation and clinical examination will give you immediate clarification. Plastic surgeon versus dermatologist

We are the only private clinic in Denmark to offer this treatment performed by a highly experienced plastic surgeon with over 5000 successful operations of this kind, in collaboration with a highly experienced pathologist who evaluates the preparation – instead of a dermatologist. Plastic surgeons specialize in advanced surgery, dermatologists do not.

We will carefully evaluate your specific situation and propose a customized treatment plan that meets your needs and ensures the best results.

If you need guidance, we are here for you

If you are a private patient or have health insurance and are concerned about a skin lesion, skin tumor, non-healing wound or other skin tumor you find unsightly, we can quickly help you with a clinical assessment, biopsy for diagnosis and removal.

Remember that early diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer is crucial for a favorable prognosis. If you suspect skin cancer or have already been diagnosed, it’s important to act quickly and seek professional help

Over 40,000 new cases of non-melanoma skin cancer are diagnosed in Denmark every year

Every year, over 40,000 new cases of non-melanoma skin cancer are diagnosed in Denmark, most commonly basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). It is internationally recognized that the best treatment for skin cancer on the face (or anywhere else on the body where tissue is sparse) is surgical removal with immediate control of the tissue to ensure that all skin cancer is removed before the defect is sewn up. Subsequent closure with plastic surgical technique ensures the most optimal scar.
